Pelagic Partners is ready to help ensure our seafarers remain safe as we head into the autumn and winter.
In the on-going global fight against Covid-19, vaccination is crucial and Pelagic Partners have been determined to make sure hardworking seafarers receive jabs if they want them.
Vaccinations on vessels are gathering pace, with the crew of our PCTC Pelagic Piranha receiving doses in Wilhelmshaven and Antwerp this month. Further vaccinations on other vessels are also being finalised.
“Safe and healthy seafarers keep the world moving and we hugely appreciate the efforts of medical staff in Germany and Belgium,” said Pelagic Partners founder Atef Abou Merhi.
“Pelagic – and our partners the Hartmann Group – are family businesses. Looking after seafarers and contractors is at the heart of everything we do.
“We passionately believe seafarers must be recognised as key workers and given priority access to Covid-19 vaccines.”

In comparison, the share of the population fully vaccinated against Covid-19 in large shipping nations in Europe, North America and Asia is at around 50%.
This suggests that despite progress in seafarer vaccinations, their rates are much behind those of large shipping nations.
Pelagic Partners will continue to encourage and help facilitate vaccination uptake across the maritime community.
