At Pelagic Partners, sustainability continues to shape the way we think, invest, and operate across our maritime portfolio. Following a year defined by resilience, disciplined execution, and continued development, we are pleased to share our 2025 Sustainability Report, our third annual publication.
The report reflects our ongoing focus on responsible maritime investment, environmental stewardship, support for our people, and robust governance, while recognising the evolving challenges and opportunities facing the maritime industry.
In 2025, sustainability became increasingly embedded in how we assess investments, oversee maritime assets, and conduct our operations. The report provides a transparent account of our progress, challenges, and priorities, demonstrating how Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) considerations continue to inform our strategy, risk management, and decision-making.
Prepared with reference to the Voluntary Standard for non-listed Micro-, Small- and Medium-sized undertakings (VSME), the 2025 report marks the third consecutive year in which Pelagic Partners has voluntarily applied the framework to support clear, consistent, and comparable sustainability disclosures for stakeholders.
Why This Report Matters
The maritime sector plays a vital role in global trade while facing significant environmental, social, and regulatory challenges. As a fund manager focused on maritime assets, Pelagic Partners recognises the responsibility that comes with managing and investing in the sector.
Our 2025 Sustainability Report provides a transparent view of the actions and practices through which we seek to address these responsibilities, from integrating sustainability considerations into investment evaluation and risk management, to supporting the transition towards more sustainable maritime operations.
The report also reflects our commitment to improving the quality and consistency of sustainability reporting. During 2025, we enhanced our data collection processes across the Investment Fund and re-established 2025 as the baseline year for future performance measurement.
Most importantly, the report reflects our view that responsible business practices and long-term value creation are closely connected. By strengthening environmental stewardship, supporting our people, and maintaining disciplined governance and risk management, we aim to contribute to a more resilient maritime industry.
Key Highlights from the Report
- Supporting the Maritime Energy Transition
- Continued efforts to reduce GHG emissions and improve air quality through cleaner fuels, alternative-fuel evaluation, and technological upgrades.
- Investment in modern maritime assets incorporating technologies designed to reduce environmental impact.
- Two Commissioning Service Operation Vessels (CSOVs) under construction, purpose-built to support offshore wind projects while retaining flexibility across wider offshore energy markets.
- Sustainability considerations integrated into relevant investment evaluation and risk management processes.
- Continued focus on opportunities linked to offshore wind and the broader energy transition.
Through the Pelagic Wind Fund and CSOV-related activities, Pelagic Partners continues to maintain exposure to offshore wind infrastructure and related energy-transition activities.
2. Protecting the Marine Environment
Environmental stewardship remains an important part of how we manage our maritime operations:
- Zero spills or spill-related incidents in the marine environment from the fleet in 2025.
- Continued use of very low sulphur fuel, ultra-low sulphur fuel, and distillates across many vessels.
- The majority of vessels are equipped with advanced ballast water treatment systems to help prevent the transfer of invasive species.
- Continued use of ballast water exchange or treatment in line with the International Ballast Water Management Convention.
- Investment in modern anti-fouling technologies and efforts to minimise time spent in biodiversity-sensitive areas.
These measures form part of Pelagic Partners’ continued efforts to reduce the environmental impact of shipboard operations and protect marine ecosystems.
3. Supporting Our People
Our people remain central to building a resilient and responsible maritime organisation:
- Continued focus on health, safety, physical and mental wellbeing across the Group.
- Access to an on-site exercise area supporting employee health and wellbeing.
- Regular review of health and safety protocols and updated emergency procedures.
- Continued investment in professional development through courses, seminars, conferences, and e-learning.
- Ongoing ESG training for Senior Management and personnel.
- Continued oversight of onboard working conditions, health and safety, and communication with crew members.
Looking Ahead
The 2025 Sustainability Report captures the progress made during the year while also recognising that sustainability is an ongoing journey.
Looking ahead, Pelagic Partners will continue to monitor developments in climate-related regulation, decarbonisation, and sustainability reporting, while assessing opportunities to improve the environmental performance and operational efficiency of its maritime investments.
The Group is also developing a Sustainability Policy Framework and Sustainability Reporting Procedure, expected to be implemented in 2026, as part of its efforts to further strengthen the transparency and rigour of its sustainability practices.
As we move forward, Pelagic Partners remains committed to integrating ESG considerations across our investment and operational activities, supporting our people, strengthening environmental stewardship, and contributing to a more resilient and sustainable maritime sector.
